Spells are what wizards use on the map to attempt to defeat the other wizards in combat.

Types of Spell[edit | edit source]

There are 5 types of spell:

  • Summon spells
  • Magic Attack spells
  • Map control spells
  • Magic boost spells
  • Special spells

Spells and Alignments[edit | edit source]

The last 3 types are all unique to an Alignment. Map control spells are the unique Chaos spells, magic boost spells are the unique Law spells, and the special spells are unique to the Neutral alignment.

Amount of Spells per Type[edit | edit source]

There are 18 summon spells (6 per alignment), 4 Magic Attack spells (2 for Chaos and 2 for Law), 3 map control spells (Chaos only), 3 magic boost spells (Law only), and 3 special spells (Neutral only).

This makes for a total of 31 spells.

Map Control (Chaos only) Spells[edit | edit source]

  • Tangle Vine - 80% -summons 5 tangle vines that cannot attack but can be destroyed
  • Gooey Blob - 75% - summons a blob that multiplies (but dies off eventually) and disables creatures in the same hex as itself
  • Shadow Wood - 60% - summons 7 trees that cannot move but can attack

Magic Boost (Law only) Spells[edit | edit source]

  • Magic Sword - 75% - adds +11 to the caster's attack - subsequent magic sword spells boost attack by a further +1
  • Magic Shield - 75% - adds +5 to the caster's defence - subsequent magic shield spells boost defence by a further +1
  • Magic Bow - 70% - gives the caster ranged combat of 3 damage with 4 range - subsequent magic bow spells boost ranged attack by +1 and range by +1

Special (Neutral only) Spells[edit | edit source]

  • Disbelieve - 100% - destroys illusions, the only permanent spell (can be lost to magical attacks)
  • Magic Bolt - 100% - a powerful 3 range missile attack (10 power vs. magic resistance check)
  • Subversion - 75% - takes control of an enemy creature (10 power vs. magic resistance check)
